Vieira, Rezende, Barbosa e Guerreiro Advogados was one of the first Brazilian firms to provide legal assistance related to project finance of infrastructure development projects, creating a reputation of excellence on rendering such services. In 1999 Vieira, Rezende, Barbosa e Guerreiro Advogados and the National Economic and Social Development Bank – BNDES organized a seminar regarding the most important aspects of project finance in Brazil, and currently the firm continues to be at the forefront of efforts to further develop this form of financing.
The projects described involve corporate activities, such as mergers and acquisitions related to the post 1991 privatization program, and constitution of joint ventures and execution of agreements covering a wide range of business opportunities in Brazil. The elaboration of investment strategies and legal structures related to project finance were also of paramount importance in most of these projects.
